Staff Software Engineer

We work closely with UI designers and are supported by our infrastructure team. We aim to delight users with both large new features and smaller, daily product enhancements—thanks to our continuous deployment architecture. We want to create a superlative user experience, down to the smallest details.
Joining our newly formed team in Vancouver, you'll be at the forefront of developing Asana's future persona packaged products aimed at crafting the company's next $100 million product line. In this staff-level engineering role, you'll be working alongside a talented group of innovators focused on exploring new product opportunities that blend user, business, and technical excellence. Your role will be pivotal in shaping the technical direction and ensuring seamless collaboration across design, product, and engineering teams to drive impactful results for Asana.
This role is based in our Vancouver office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. What you’ll achieve:
- Drive the design and implementation of highly innovative products with a focus on value and feasibility.
- Collaborate with peers in product and design to find opportunities that maximize user value.
- Provide technical guidance to enhance team efficiency and shorten iteration cycles.
- Identify technical risks early and develop strategies for their mitigation.
- Forge best practices in prototyping and platform leveraging, extending Asana's innovation culture.
- Integrate AI tools and emerging tech to elevate user experience and productivity.
- Engage in cross-functional partnerships to design comprehensive, user-centered solutions.
- Make significant contributions to the tech landscape by working across the entire engineering stack.
About you:
- Demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with experience leading product engineering teams
- Experience working on and leading projects that are full-stack in nature, touching both front-end web application code and their supporting back-end counterparts.
- Quick learner and comfortable transitioning between different contexts, codebases, and skill sets to jump in and rapidly unblock teammates facing thorny obstacles
- Deep understanding of product risk
- Comfort exploring ambiguity to uncover new paths forward

To ensure pay is fair and not impacted by biases, we're committed to looking at market value which is why we check ourselves and conduct a yearly pay equity audit.
For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $211, 000 - 240,000 CAD. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.
In addition to base salary, your compensation package may include additional components such as equity, sales incentive pay (for most sales roles), and benefits.
